To ensure that all employees can demonstrate their full potential, we promote the development of a comfortable workplace that is safe and free from discrimination, and strive to create an environment in which each person can take on challenges, not only to contribute to corporate value but in the interests of self-actualization.

Providing a supportive environment for work-life balance

We are working to develop an internal environment that enables employees to continue working while striking a healthy balance between work and major life events including childbirth, raising children and nursing care.
We have instituted various systems that are used by many employees with children, including shortened working hours for childcare, childcare leave and the Flex Work Childcare System.
In fiscal 2021, the rate of female employees using our childcare leave system and returning to work was 100%. We are also encouraging male employees to take childcare leave and this concept is gradually taking hold.

We also provide support through various other systems to ensure that major life events do not limit employees' ability to work. These include a family care leave system that can be used for up to one year in order to provide nursing care to a family member, and up to a year of fertility treatment leave.
We have also introduced a career re-employment registration system which ensures that persons who have resigned due to unavoidable circumstances can be re-employed and resume utilizing their experience, knowledge and capabilities at Taisho Pharmaceutical once more.

Initiatives to improve the quality of work and daily life

We have implemented initiatives to reform working styles, in order to help each employee use their limited time to fully realize their potential and contribute to corporate value while also achieving self-fulfillment and improving the quality of both work and daily life.
We have introduced schemes such as the Refresh Vacation System that allows five consecutive days to be taken off for mental and physical refreshment, and the Spousal Childbirth Leave System where a total of five days combined with special leave can be taken when a spouse is undergoing childbirth. We also encourage employees to take paid leave.Another system is the Stock Vacation System. This allows employees to accumulate a maximum of 60 days of paid leave that has expired. Employees use this program for a wide range of purposes, including personal illness or injury lasting a week or more, caring for family members and emergencies.
The Stock Vacation System can also be used for relief efforts in the wake of a disaster, recovery after a disaster and various volunteer activities.
The Health Committee, which comprises PERSONNEL division, industrial physicians and labor union members, works to maintain and enhance employee health and boost productivity in daily operations. In addition to notifying divisions of the overtime work status at each workplace, the committee has labor and management jointly monitor workplace conditions, and promotes initiatives designed to promote flexible working styles while providing friendly reminders.
In 2021 we introduced a discretionary work system primarily for our research sites and adopted a results-oriented working style that is not bound by working hours.

Creating an environment that enables employees to take on the challenge of self-fulfillment

The Self-Declaration System and Internal Recruiting System are in place as initiatives to help employees attain self-fulfillment.
Under the Self-Declaration System, once a year an employee can communicate personal requests to their superiors and the PERSONNEL division, such as a request for a transfer or relocation, or matters concerning the workplace environment.
Under the Internal Recruiting System, employees wishing to transfer internally are solicited for business enhancement or new projects. Giving employees opportunities to register interest and shape their careers independently helps us to improve employee motivation, bring energy to operations and promote new projects.
