To ensure that all employees can reach their full potential, the Taisho Pharmaceutical Group's fundamental approach is the building of a foundation and environment that engages high-level talent, regardless of gender, nationality, lifestyle, values and so on. We aim to create an environment of mutual acceptance in which each person can utilize their strengths to the fullest extent.

Promoting diversity & inclusion

When Duoc Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG) and UPSA became subsidiaries in 2019, it meant that more than half of Taisho Pharmaceutical Group employees were of foreign nationalities.
To create new value and continually enhance corporate value in stride with employees of various nationalities and cultural backgrounds including within Japan, the Group has developed an organizational culture and environment that accepts the differences among employees and which respects their dignity and human rights.
In Japan, all employees undergo periodic diversity and inclusion training and we strive to create an environment in which each employee can make use of their diversity.

Promoting opportunities for women

The Group's fundamental approach is "the building of a foundation and environment that engages high-level talent, regardless of gender." The Group has announced a target of "female workers holding 18% of management-level positions (section chief equivalent or higher) by the end of fiscal 2025," and is pursuing training and other initiatives to develop the workplace environment and foster awareness among employees. As of the end of fiscal 2021, women held 16.2% of management-level positions, with one female officer (including benefits) in Japan and eight female officers overseas.
Going forward we will pursue further improvements and work ceaselessly to develop an environment in which women can continue to succeed.

Obtaining "Kurumin" and "Eruboshi" certification

In February 2022, Taisho Pharmaceutical received the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare's "Kurumin" mark certification as a company that supports childcare in accordance with the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children.

In February 2020, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare presented Taisho Pharmaceutical with the highest level 3 Eruboshi certification as an outstanding company pursuing initiatives to promote the successful careers of female employees in accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.

Employing Seniors

Amid rising social demands to proactively employ seniors, we have introduced a re-employment system that allows willing employees to keep working after reaching mandatory retirement age.In addition to developing a comfortable work environment for personnel who are re-employed after mandatory retirement, we have introduced a performance-linked compensation system to further motivate re-employed personnel.
As of March 31, 2021, a total of 107 people were working under this system and demonstrating their abilities.

Promoting Employment of Persons with Disabilities

The Taisho Pharmaceutical Group encourages the employment of persons with disabilities. We hold frequent discussions to make sure that such people can maximize their potential according to ability and aptitude.
As of March 1, 2021, our employment rate for persons with disabilities stands at 2.26%
