Human Resource Development

We have established the following human resource development policy to support the growth of each employee, and aim to strike a balance between contributions to corporate value and self-fulfillment.

  • Engage in human resource development so that all employees can put the philosophy of the Taisho Pharmaceutical Group into practice.
  • Cultivate professional human resources who can develop a high level of expertise and contribute to enhancing corporate value.
  • Cultivate human resources who can think and act for themselves, and attain self-fulfillment.

Education and Training Systems

Various education and training programs have been set up to support the development of each employee.
In addition to level-specific training, companywide basic training, life plan workshops and language training which are provided in-house, we provide opportunities for employees to gain specialized knowledge and experience at outside training institutions, business schools, universities and so on, and strive to develop and grow the employees who will lead the next generation.

Level-Specific Training

In addition to training for new employees, when employees are promoted to assistant manager or other positions of managerial rank, they receive training in the roles, behavior and standards expected at that level of the organization.
We also provide newly appointed managers, department managers and other management positions with training to equip them with the management and leadership skills they will need.
In addition, each division such as sales, R&D and production prepares its own level-specific training programs and endeavors to develop human resources possessing the necessary expertise in their respective fields.

Companywide Basic Training

Once a month, all employees take part in training within their own departments, adopting a different theme each month.
Topics include those with which pharmaceutical companies must be familiar, such as harmful drug side effects and Japan's Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act. Study of a wide range of other topics, such as the SDGs and matters related to diversity and inclusion improves the basic knowledge levels of all employees. In addition, themes specific to individual departments are also adopted, imparting knowledge and skills specific to each employee's department.
Moreover, education on topics of the Company's founding spirit and management philosophy instills in employees the corporate identity of Taisho Pharmaceutical.

Language Training

As part of efforts to strengthen English proficiency, particularly among employees who require it for business, the Company provides English conversation classes in small groups, taught by native English-speaking instructors. Employees make use of the course to improve their English-speaking ability amid the Group's continuing overseas expansion.

Self-development support program

To support and promote self-directed learning, Taisho Pharmaceutical pays half of the course fee for employees who complete a designated correspondence course. In fiscal 2020, a total of 515 requests were received, as employees strove to achieve personal goals and acquire knowledge, skills and professional certification.

Life Plan Workshops

To assist employees with life planning, we conduct Life Plan Workshops at various life stages (four years after entering the Company and ages 32, 42, 54 and 58). These workshops provide employees with opportunities to review their life plans and goals in specific detail.

Regular Reviews of Performance and Career Development

Taisho Pharmaceutical conducts regular interviews with employees regarding performance and career development. We hold three interviews: one at the beginning of the fiscal year for setting goals, one at mid-term for assessing progress and one at fiscal year-end for overall evaluation. In the fiscal year-end interview, we evaluate the employee's accomplishments during the year and provide an opportunity to discuss challenges and development of capabilities going forward.
