Taisho Pharmaceutical Issues
| Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) has issued Environmental and Social Report 2003, a document summarizing the company’s environmental activities for the 2002 fiscal year.
At Taisho Pharmaceutical, our business is protecting the lives and health of consumers, in accordance with our corporate philosophy: "contribute to the enrichment of people’s lives by improving their health", "in a manner supported by the public."
Taisho Pharmaceutical recognizes the vital importance of environmental issues and the need to prioritize such issues in management decision-making. Our fundamental policy is to design all corporate activities — from product development to production, distribution, consumption, and disposal — in an eco-friendly manner, so that future generations may enjoy a cleaner global environment. To help build a more environmentally-aware society, we make every effort to conserve energy and resources, as well as reduce waste.
Because we realize a thorough understanding of these efforts among consumers is essential, we are publishing our second annual environmental report.
This year, the title of the report has been changed to Environmental and Social Report, to reflect the inclusion of additional information on our social action programs carried out over the years, and our efforts to communicate with consumers. The report also includes the results of our green accounts, recently introduced to permit quantitative assessment, where possible, of the cost-effectiveness of our environmental activities.
Taisho Pharmaceutical regards this report as a vital tool for communicating with consumers, and plans to publish similar reports on a regular and continuing basis.
