Taisho to Launch "Pitaritto" Diarrhea Remedy With New |
| Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) is to launch "Pitaritto" a diarrhea remedy containing "loperamide hydrochloride" widely used for pharmaceutical purposes, together with the digestive enzyme "biodiastase 2000" and the bactericide "berberin chloride", on February 17, 2003. Diarrhea occurs when the amount of water in the bowels increases or when bowel movement is excessive. "Loperamide hydrochloride", one of the active ingredients of "Pitaritto", curbs the secretion of intestinal fluid and slows bowel movement, to stop diarrhea. The digestive enzyme "biodiastase 2000" promotes the digestion of undigested food to relieve diarrhea due to over-indulgence in food or drink, while the bactericide "berberin chloride" suppress decomposition and fermentation in the bowels to relieve food and water poisoning. "Loperamide hydrochloride" is a pharmaceutical substance used in many diarrhea remedies, with a highly effective action. "Pitaritto", which is the first OTC product to combine this ingredient with a digestive enzyme and a bactericide, is supplied in small film-coated tablet format, and offers powerful action against painful diarrhea. "Pitaritto" is specially designed for adults (persons over the age of 15). Its launch means that, together with "Taisho Geri-Dome" featuring a bactericide, Taisho Pharmaceutical now offers two diarrhea remedies. Product features
