Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., (President: Akira Uehara) announced two additions to its Preser line of hemorrhoid treatments, Preser Cool Gel, a transparent topical gel, and Preser Kanpo Oral, which heals hemorrhoids while improving bowel movements, on February 12, 2002.

Preser Cool Gel is Japan's first transparent gel type hemorrhoid treatment. Smooth and non-sticky, it feels just cool enough when applied to affected areas and delivers a high level of both immediate and lasting therapeutic effects. This new treatment received high marks in clinical trials and patent applications have been submitted for the technology used to produce this gel type hemorrhoid treatment.

Preser Kanpo Oral is made of traditional Chinese herbs that heal hemorrhoids while easing the constipation that is one of the leading causes of hemorrhoids. Through the action of the traditional Otsuji-to herbal remedies from China, this treatment provides effective internal and external relief and aids in the healing of both hemorrhoids and anal fissures.

According to consumers surveyed by Taisho Pharmaceutical, individuals prone to hemorrhoids are alerted to having hemorrhoids by the discomfort of anal itching and swelling. Longtime sufferers from hemorrhoids "hate sticky feeling treatments" and "want quicker relief." Consumers also recognize that constipation is one of the causes of hemorrhoids and that unless constipation is relieved hemorrhoids are difficult to cure. The two new products described above have been created in response to these consumer needs.
