Situated next to the Omiya factory, the R&D Center, built in 1974, is home to the divisions of Prescription Drug R&D, Over the Counter Drug R&D, Research Computer Center and Office of General Affairs. Work at this facility focuses on all of the processes involved in the development of prescription drugs, from the investigatory phase of research to preclinical testing.

Incorporating the very latest equipment, the Production Technology Laboratories are managed by the Research Computer Center which supports research through the use of computers which compilers a wide variety of technological information. Engaging in both research and production activities, this facility carries out medium and large-scale tests of new products.
