Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. [Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Akira Uehara] (Taisho) has signed an agreement (full outsourcing service basic agreement) with NEC Corporation [Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Kaoru Yano] (NEC) to outsource internal information systems management and other related operations to NEC.
The pharmaceutical industry faces an increasingly challenging operating environment. In this context, Taisho has decided to outsource information system-related operations previously conducted internally to NEC, with the aim of concentrating even more resources on its core pharmaceutical business.
Through this move, Taisho will benefit in a number of ways, such as by building an optimal IT utilization system for executing business operations, bolstering planning capabilities with respect to using information systems, and reinforcing its disaster readiness through secure and stable NEC Data Center operations.
NEC will work to centralize and standardize information systems and enhance quality, while maintaining close cooperation with Taisho. Harnessing the expertise gained from this project, NEC is looking to expand its services business.
Taisho will outsource operations in the areas of system management, development, operation and maintenance to NEC, but will continue to conduct planning operations internally as before.
