Taisho Launches "Preser Ace Enema Ointment," New Formulation in the Preser Series - an Ointment for Hemorrhoids that Remains at the Treatment Site- 

Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) announces the launch of "Preser Ace Enema Ointment" on September 21 to bolster up the Preser series. This novel preparation remains where needed for prolonged treatment of hemorrhoids.

The original "Preser Ace" (suppository) is a popular hemorrhoidal preparation currently on the market. It introduced the ability to remain close to the affected area and provide treatment with Taisho’s exclusive preparation technology. The new "Preser Ace Enema Ointment" has the same therapeutic mechanism as "Preser Ace". The basis adheres to the mucous membrane and allows the active ingredients in the ointment to remain in the affected area near the anus, despite its ointment form, after insertion into the anal canal.

Our new preparation is like an enema with ointment properties. Consumers can choose two different applications depending on the hemorrhoid location and symptoms: as an enema for internal hemorrhoids (deep lesions), and as a topical application for external hemorrhoids. The ointment has 7 active ingredients, including hydrocortisone acetate to soothe inflammation, tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride as vasoconstrictor, and chlorhexidine hydrochloride as disinfectant. These make the new preparation highly effective for pain, bleeding, swelling and itching caused by anal fissures and hemorrhoids. Patients can apply "Preser Ace Enema Ointment" sanitarily without touching the lesion or the preparation. The available single dose packages are convenient for travel.

We are fortunate to have Mr. Toshio Kakei, a well-known TV, movie and theatrical actor, as our spokesman from October. Mr. Kakei will help us increase brand awareness of the Preser products and attract new Consumers.

The first formulation of the Preser series was released in August 1957. Since then, we have made improvements and added new formulations that address our Consumers' needs. The newly added "Preser Ace Enema Ointment" is a significant addition to the Preser series.
