Announcing the Launch of Hemorrhoidal Preparations "Preser S Hi Ointment" and "Preser S Hi" Packaged to be More Accessible to Women |
| Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) will launch the hemorrhoidal preparations "Preser S Hi Ointment" and "Preser S Hi" which are packaged to be more accessible to women on September 16 to broaden the "Preser" series of hemorrhoidal preparations. Research conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 1999 indicated that women account for 44% of all hemorrhoid patients. Many women experience hemorrhoids during pregnancy and delivery. Additionally, the constipation commonly experienced by women is considered to be one of the causes of this phenomenon. A case of hemorrhoids isn’t something most people want others to know about. When women buy a hemorrhoidal drug over the counter, they may prefer to select a product, for example, that is discreetly packaged so as not to identify it as a hemorrhoidal drug. The "Preser S Hi" series is packaged in this way. The "Preser S Hi" series of products is available in two forms: ointment and suppository. The ointment-type products are effective against swelling of blind piles outside the anus and bleeding associated with anal fissures, and are used at the start of treatment in more than 60% of women with hemorrhoids. With suppository-type products, a Preser-exclusive pharmaceutical technique (W-DDS*) is used. This type of product is particularly effective against swelling and bleeding associated with blind piles inside the anus, as its base material allows the suppository to remain at the affected area, while its vasoconstrictor activity allows the active ingredients to remain at the affected area for an extended period.
