Pabron Nose Wash AG, Clean out Pollen and Dust
Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) has announced that Pabron Nose Wash AG, a new nasal irrigation product (60 ml, 600 yen) that removes pollen without fragmenting it, will go on sale on January 7, 2002.
Pollen removal by washing the hands and eyes and gargling with mouthwash are effective techniques for preventing allergic reactions during the pollen allergy season. Until now, however, there has been no way to remove pollen that has entered the nose. Recognizing this consumer need, Taisho Pharmaceutical has established a new category of nasal wash products.
Ordinarily, nasal passages are mildly acidic. When affected by pollen allergies, however, they become alkaline. In an alkaline environment, the pollen that cause allergic reactions become more friable. They tend to break up, leading to worsening symptoms.
Pabron Nose Wash AG's most important feature is the use of citric acid and sodium citrate to adjust pH, keep the nasal passages mildly acidic, and wash away pollens without fragmenting them.
According to Taisho Pharmaceutical research, what consumers want is a nasal irrigation product does not sting, feels good throughout thorough washing, and is usable both at home and at work. Pabron Nose Wash AG was developed with special care to meet these consumer needs. It does not irritate the nose. As an aerosol, it allows thorough cleaning using a gentle mist. The bottle has been carefully designed to make it suitable for use wherever needed, and the price has been kept affordable.
It is estimated that victims of pollen allergies now account for around 10 percent of Japan's population. According to research by Taisho Pharmaceutical, last year the nasal irrigation market increased five-fold, and eighty percent of current users of topical nasal remedies say that they would like to try a new nasal irrigation product. The nasal irrigation market shows great potential for vigorous growth.
