Taisho Completes New Quality Control Building

Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Akira Uehara) has completed construction and begun operations at the New Quality Control Building at the Omiya Factory.

A key element in Taisho Pharmaceutical's plan to renovate its factories, now in phase five, the new Quality Control Building is part of the company's on-going globalization effort and is designed to accelerate product development while also ensuring quality that meets global standards.
The six-story building houses the company's Quality Control Division, Production Technology Laboratories, and Environment Division. Concentrating their functions in the same structure is aimed at improving efficiency and creating stronger links between environmental measures, quality assurance, and production technologies.

The new building also is equipped with new facilities to improve the efficiency of quality testing. These include an isolator that, by ensuring that experiments are conduced in an aseptic environment, strengthens our capacity to carry out microbiological testing, a low vacuum pressure scanning electron microscope, and a high-speed liquid chromatograph system.
Since, moreover, the Production Technology Laboratories and Quality Control department are now closer together, improvements can realistically be expected in the time required to commercialize products.
Installation of an advanced ice thermal storage system is one of the many forward-looking energy-saving steps taken to ensure that this building is environment-friendly.
